Some Performance Indicators of Major Indian States



Energy Sector

Note: Energy available is not the same as the installed capacity. It is the actual available energy in the power grid

Literacy Rate

The trend in literacy rate is quite promising. All the major states are doing quite well.

Public Debt

I don't make any comments on this. Public debt is a reflection of economic policies of the state. Around mid 2000's all major states had a high public debt. Since then it has come down, except Gujarat.

Infant Mortality rate

All the major states are doing quite well when it comes to infant mortality rates.

Top Foreign Currency returns filed by various organizations in Kerala

Recently Gail Tredwell revealed her experiences while she was a close associate of Amrithanandamayi, a prominent spiritual figure in Kerala. In her book  Holy Hell: A Memoir of Faith, Devotion, and Pure Madness she recalls sexual abuses she had to go through. She also makes some allegations about financial irregularity in the math. This made me look into the foreign currency returns filed by various organizations in Kerala, with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Data is available from 2006 onward. Organizations which have declared an anuall foreign currency returns of above 100,000,000 (100 million)  Indian rupee are shown below, broken down in years.

(Gail alleges that the math has some 300 million USD worth assets. She does this estimation based on bank interests and revenue obtained from the investments made with this capital)
